Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Autism Family Experience Questionnaire among families with a autism spectrum children in Yazd province. The study employed a descriptive correlational-normative method. The statistical population included all families with a child on the autism spectrum in the year 2024, out of which 385 individuals were selected through convenient sampling. The study utilized questionnaires on autism family experience, autism symptom severity, and social support. To assess the validity of the questionnaire, Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated. The findings revealed Cronbach's alpha for the subscale of parental autism experience was 0.929, for family life subscale 0.916, for child development and social relations subscale 0.940, for child symptoms 0.897, and for the entire Autism Family Experience Questionnaire 0.952. The results indicated that the Autism Family Experience Questionnaire has suitable reliability and validity, making it a viable tool for evaluating and assessing the autism family experiences.
