Autism spectrum disorder (ASD), as a developmental-neuro disorder, is a disorder that creates impairments in the cognitive performances, such as memory, communication ability and language. One of the determining levels in the individuals’ social life is the ability to produce narrative discourse which entails applying linguistic and cognitive knowledge and skills simultaneously. The purpose of the present study was to provide a comparative study of the reference representation, as a narrative fundamental element, by using referential expressions based on the six cognitive statuses proposed in Gundel, Hedberg, & Zacharski’s (1993) “Givenness Hierarchy” in the narratives produced by Persian-speaking children with high-functioning autism (HFA) and typically developed (TD) children regarding their age. To this end, 24 children with high-functioning autism and 24 typically developed children, with the age 7, 9, 11 years old (each age group consisting of 8 subjects) were participated in this study. The narratives were elicited by the picture story book “Frog, where are you?” (Mayer, 1969). Then, the gathered data were analyzed by SPSS software. The results of the study indicated that there was differences between the two under study groups in representing the reference based on the cognitive statuses of “Givenness Hierarchy” by referential expressions. Furthermore, the age increase had no effect on the reference representation based on the cognitive statuses of “Givenness Hierarchy” in children with high-functioning autism’s narratives, in contrast to typically developed children’s narratives.

Autism spectrum disorder is a type of neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by persistent impairment in social interactions and communication as well as repetitive and specific behaviors. The purpose of this study was to compare of the effectiveness of stress management and social support perception training based on cognitive-behavioral manner on quality of life of mothers of children with autism spectrum disorder. The research method was experimental with pretest, posttest and follow up design. First, the subjects were screened for inclusion criteria, then 30 mothers with children with autism spectrum disorder were selected and after being matched, they were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups (10 person in each group). Mothers in the two groups, stress management and social support perception management, received 8 sessions of 90 minutes of intervention and the control group received no intervention. The research instrument, including WHO Quality of Life Questionnaire (1996), was administered to the subjects in all three stages. Data analysis using statistical method of repeated measures analysis of variance, showed that training of social support perception, improves component of social relations (P<0.001), and training of stress management, improves component of physical health (P<0.001), more than other components of quality of life of mothers. Based on the findings, it is suggested that support programs be implemented in community mental health organizations to develop training packages and implement guidelines related to empowering parents with children with autism spectrum disorder.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of multimedia educational program based on social stories and Video modeling on using spoon and fork skill of intellectually disabled students. This research is a multi-lingual single-subject experimental design using different subjects. The research design used in this study is a multiple baseline across participants single-subject experimental design with different subjects. The statistical population includes all first grade intellectually disabled students who were studying in Baghcheban elementary school in Minoodasht City in Golestan Province in 2018-2019 academic year. The subjects were 4 intellectually disabled students (2 girls and 2 boys) who have 50-70 IQ score and were selected with convenience sampling methods using AAMD Adaptive Behavior Scale. A researcher-made questionnaire was developed to identify the demographic characteristics of subjects and WISC-IV was used to measure their intelligence. For evaluating the subjects' mastery of using spoon and fork skill a researcher-made checklist for using eating utensils based on AAMD Adaptive Behavior Scale and the skill training manual for intellectually disabled children published by Iran's Special Education Organization was used. For analyzing the data, the graphing analysis method was used and after plotting the charts using R software, the effects of the independent variable on the dependent variable were analyzed through the analysis of the trends. Regarding the results, it seems that the multimedia educational program used in the present study was effective in intellectually disabled students’ learning to use spoon and fork and led to improve these skills in subjects.

The purpose of this study was to compare the dimensions of attachment, fear of negative evaluation, social and academic adjustment based on different levels of academic achievement in students with visual impairment. Descriptive research design was causal-comparative. Participants of this study included 211 people of students with visual impairment in undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in all universities of the country during the academic year of 1396 - 97. The snowball method was selected. In order to collect the research data, each participant completed the Collins' Attachment Scale (1996), A brief version of the Fear of Negative Evaluation Leary (1983) and Social and Academic Adjustment Subscales of the Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire Baker and Siryk (1984). Data analysis method was multivariate analysis of variance. The results showed that there was a significant difference between students in high and low academic achievement in all research variables (p<0/05). Also, there was a significant difference in anxiety and avoidance of attachment, fear of negative evaluation and social adjustment among students with moderate and lower academic achievement. In high and moderate educational groups, the differences in all variables were significant except for avoiding attachment and academic adjustment. Considering that people with visual impairment have an attachment, fear of negative evaluation and adjustment with more problems than sighted people, on the other hand, in today's advanced world, one of the symptoms of a person's success is his academic achievement, hence attention Social support for students with visual impairment is essential to their academic achievement.

The purpose of this study was to compare the process of developing the moral reasoning of blind and visually impaired students aged 11 to 18 years old in Tehran. The research method was descriptive of causal-comparative type. The statistical society included all blind and sighted students aged 11 to 18 years in Tehran who were studying in ordinary schools and schools for the blind in the academic year 1995-96. Of these, a sample of 120 people (60 blind and 60 sighted) was selected. The blind group was selected using sampling method and Bina group was selected by multi-stage random sampling method. Moral reasoning test was used to collect data. To analyze the data, independent t-test was used. The results of the data analysis showed that there is a significant difference between the growth of moral reasoning for blind and intermediate students aged 11-14 years in Tehran (p <0.05), but there was no significant difference between the ages of 15 and 18 years (05 / 0 <p). Given the lower ethical reasoning at the age of 11-14, it is suggested that interventions and effective studies be conducted.
