Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is originally a behavioral disorder that begins in childhood and could continue into adolescence and even middle age if appropriate therapies are not used. The aim of the present research was to design a structural model of the severity of a child’s attention deficit hyperactivity disorder based on family functioning and mother-child interaction with the mediating role of marital satisfaction in mothers dwelling in Tehran. In this survey, the statistical population consists of hyperactive male children along with their mothers in Tehran in 2021, among them 212 people were selected through purposive sampling method. The research tools are McMaster Epstein et al. (1978) family functioning questionnaires, Dragatis and Ziklzorak's mental health (1973), Connor, Arhad, and Sparrow's severity of attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder (1999), and Enrich's marital satisfaction from Olson, Fornier, and Derakman (1987). The proposed model was evaluated using structural equation modeling. The results indicated that all direct paths were significant (P> 0.05), except family functioning path to severity of child’s attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. In addition, indirect paths of family functioning with the severity of child’s attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with the mediating role of marital satisfaction (P< 0/01), and also, mental health with the severity of child’s attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with the mediating role of marital satisfaction (P< 0/01), were significant. According to the results, the proposed model benefited from having a good model fit and has taken an important step towards understanding the factors affecting the severity of attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder in children.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effectiveness of emotion-focused group intervention on sexual satisfaction, marital satisfaction and dimensions of mental health in mothers of children with intellectual disability. A quantitative study design using quasi-experimental method including pretest posttest follow-up with control group was used. The population consisted of all mothers with mentally retarded children who their child studying in Meybod in 1397-98 academic year. A total of 24 mothers were selected by available sampling method and randomly assigned in experimental and control groups (12 participants per groups). Participants answered Lovibond’s depression, anxiety and stress scale, Enrich marital satisfaction scale, and Larson sexual satisfaction questionnaire at pretest, posttest and follow-up phases. The experimental group received emotion-focused group intervention intervention in 8 sessions of 1.5 hours (two sessions per week) while the control group did not receive any intervention. Finally, the data were analyzed by repeated measures ANOVA at the significance level of 0.05. The results showed that, compared to control group, the mean scores of sexual satisfaction, marital satisfaction and maintained at the follow up phase (p <0.001). According to the results, it can be concluded that emotion-focused group intervention could improve sexual satisfaction, marital satisfaction and mental health of mothers with intellectual disable children. So, emotion-focused can see as a be a valuable intervention to reduce the problems of mothers with intellectual disable children.

The aim of current research was to study the structural modeling styles for attachment to God; resilience and mental health in mothers of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It’s a correlational design. The statistical population includes all of the mothers of elementary school children with intellectual and developmental disabilities who live in the city of Tabriz in the years 2014 and 2015. To fulfill the stated goal sampling 200 students were selected and the Connor- Davidson’s resilience inventory (2003) and Rowatt and Kirkpatrick’s attachment to God inventory (2002) and mental health inventory of Dragotis and et al (1976) were used to gather the data. Structural equation modeling revealed that among attachments to God, the secure attachment results in an increase in mental health; and the attachment with anxiety factors results in a reduction of mental health; and also the avoidance attachment results a reduction both in mental health and resilience. In addition, resilience was a reason to increase mental health; but resilience in the relation between attachment to God and mental health did not have any mediating role. In regard with the importance of the spiritually developmental constructions in raising positive effects on mental health and its application both on research areas and psychological interventions is suggested for mothers of children with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other groups.

Mothers who have children with special needs are under more pressure than mothers whose children have no such problems. The pressure heightens when the child reaches adolescent, which can increase the mother’s frustration and risk her mental health. The purpose of this study was to compare mental health in mothers of adolescents with special needs and mothers of normal adolescents. The study used a causal- comparative method. Through random sampling, 75 mothers who had teenager with special needs and 25 mothers who had normal teenagers were selected out of all mothers in Babol. The Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R) and the Raven intelligence test (adult forms) were used for collecting data, and the data were analyzed using ANOVA and Tukey’s range test. The results indicated a significant difference in mental health between the mothers of special needs adolescents and the mothers of normal adolescents in many terms, including: depression (p = 0.033), anxiety (p = 0.008), aggression (p = 0.01), phobic anxiety (p = 0.023). In terms of compulsion, however, the difference was not significant (p = 0.10). It can be concluded that mothers of adolescents with special needs have lower levels of mental health compared to mother of normal adolescents. Furthermore, among mother of adolescents with mental impairments, deaf adolescents and gifted adolescents, the former have the poorer mental health. Based on the findings, we recommend that health care experts increase their focus on mothers of adolescents who have intellectual impairments and that they take proper actions to prevent psychological problems in general.

The aim of this study is to compare the mental health and academic performance of epileptic and non-epileptic adolescent 12-18 years-old students of middle and high schools in Ahvaz in the academic year 2010-2011. The ex-post facto is the methodology used in this study. The sample includes 24 students with epilepsy homogenized with 24 normal students in middle and high schools in Ahvaz. The General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-28)is administered individually in both groups. The GPA of students is considered to study the ir academic performance. The data are analyzed using MANOVA. The results show there are significant differences between the students with epilepsy and non-epileptic students in the overall mental health and all areas (except anxiety) and also in the academic performance (p<0/05). The refore students with epilepsy are poorer and in direr need in terms of general mental health, physical symptoms, social functioning, depressive symptoms and academic performance. The risk of epileptic seizures can reduce adolescent mental health and academic performance. It is recommended that students should receive mental health training. Also parents and teachers should receive training to improve the mental health and academic performance of their children.

Objective: This study aims at investigating the relation between attachment to God and mental health among the parents of exceptional and normal children.
Method: The present study is an applied research conducted by correlational methodology. 358 persons (125 parents of normal students and 233 parents of exceptional ones) were selected via random cluster sampling. They answered the scales of God attachment styles (Larson and Ghobari, 2009) and SCL-90-R. The data were analyzed by using correlation coefficient, T test and Z test.
Results: The results show that there is a highly significant relationship between attachment to God and mental health of the two groups of this study. Also, the relationship between the said two variables is more significant in the parents of exceptional children than those of normal ones (p = / 0001).
Conclusion: The result of the present study showed that there is a significant relationship between attachment to God and mental health in parents of exceptional and normal children.
Recommendations: It is thus suggested that in order to reduce stress and improve mental health in parents of exceptional children, they should be encouraged to have faith and rely on God.

Objective:The aim of the present study was to a) to determine the prevalence of child abuse and b) to predict it from a study of parents’ depression and anxiety, and attachment style and mental health of their adolescent sons.
Method: The population of the study comprises all adolescent boys enrolled in middle schools in Ardabil city. To determine the prevalence of different types of child-abuse a survey was conducted, and to predict it a discriminant functional analysis was used. The prevalence sample comprised 2000 students selected through a multi-stage random sampling procedure, of which 200 students scoring high and 200 scoring low were selected for hypotheses testing. Data were collected using the Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ), Beck Depression Inventory, II (BDI-II),State Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI), modified Hazan & Shaver Attachment Style Questionnaire (ASQ) and Symptom Check List 90 (SCL-90-R). Descriptive statistics and discriminant function analysis were used to analyze the data.
Results: The results showed that 14.85% of the subjects were exposed to child-abuse, with emotional abuse being most prevalent. Furthermore, child abuse can be predicted from the variables of parents’ depression and anxiety, attachment style and mental health of their adolescent sons. Conclusion and recommendations: Considering the destructive effects of child abuse, by research into child abuse and identification of its predictive factors, necessary interventions can be implemented to prevent it.

Objective: The present study examined the mental health status of the adolescents in Shahid Dastgheyb and Namaziorphanages. This study is an applied type of survey. Method: Statistical population is the total number adolescents who are inhabitants of two orphanages of Shahid Dastghib and Namazi in city of Shiraz in the year 1389. The sample size is equal to the statistical population. To collect data the 28-GHQ Goldberg Questionnaire was applied. And the statistical methods used in this study are: mean ,Spearman correlation coefficient, binomial test and Mann – Whitney test. Results: The results show that: 1) Mental health of inhabitants of orphanages is fairly sound. 2) There are not any significant differences between boys and girls in components such as: physical symptoms, social function impairment, severe depression, and only the components of anxiety and sleep disturbance were significant. The results show anxiety and sleep disorder is more common in girls. 3) There is no difference among high school and guidance students in mental health status. 4) There is a slight negative correlation and significance between the indicator of mental health and age, which has a significance of 95% confidence level. Conclusion and Recommendations: In contrast to expectations, the low prevalence of mental health disorder symptoms in the adolescents residing the orphanages of Dastgheyb and Namazi in Shiraz indicates, that their mental health is fairly well. Although there is a very low prevalence of mental disorder cases , prevention is needed through appropriate planning, by developing mental health and counseling centers for sounder mental health education.
